The Reds got off to the best possible start in their first group match, with Roberto Firmino scoring an injury time goal to beat much-fancied Paris Saint-Germain 3-2 at Anfield. Next up for Jurgen Klopp’s men is a trip to Naples, where they are sure to face a stiff test at the San Paolo. Carlo Ancelotti’s team sit second in Serie A after a decent start to the season but they will be out to appease their fans after suffering a devastating loss to rivals Juventus at the weekend.

After the draw was made, many predicted that this group would be the most difficult one to win, with Liverpool, PSG and Napoli all fancied to do well in the competition. The fourth team in the group, Red Star Belgrade, were predicted to be the whipping boys, although they did come away with a very creditable 0-0 draw at home to Napoli in their first match.

And former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has given his verdict on heavyweight clash. “After an embarrassing group stage exit last season, Napoli have brought in three-time Champions League winner Carlo Ancelotti to improve their chances,” he wrote in his column for the Daily Mail. “The big question is whether they have the fitness and sharpness to cope with a Liverpool side bursting with pace and energy.

After beating the French giants PSG in the first round, Liverpool are expected to win this match easily, although Carlo Ancelotti’s experience in the UEFA Champions League along with home advantage might give Napoli some encouragement.
